Twitter amplifies Black Lives Matter statements in the US through Out of Home

Once again Twitter demonstrates that its most effective ads come from its rich library of tweets from everyday users: and what better way to amplify than through Out of Home?

Juneteenth (June 19) recently passed, which marks the emancipation of slavery in the US. To support the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement and Juneteenth, Twitter broadcasted hand-selected tweets from the millions of tweets which have appeared on the platform since the BLM protests started in May.

Twitter selected 8 cities that staged the most impactful protests in May (Atlanta, Chicago, Louisville, Minneapolis, New York, Los Angeles, Oakland and Philadelphia). The aim of the Out of Home campaign was to support the BLM movement by keeping the momentum of change going.

While protests may have died down in many cities across the US, Twitter is working to keep the issues alive and support real change in communities. For those who didn’t have the chance to see the billboards in real life, they were also shared online via the Blackbirds Twitter profile (Twitters employee resource group for African-Americans).
